Hyperhidrosis a permanent condition known as ‘excessive sweating’ and can affect different areas of the body, both sexes and, all races equally. Sweating is necessary to control body temperature during times of exercise and in warm/hot surroundings and is a normal response to a rise in temperature or anxiety.
Sweating is regulated by the sympathetic nervous system. In about 1% of the population, this system is revved-up and works at a very high level, causing sweating to occur at inappropriate times, far in excess of the amount necessary to maintain normal body temperature.
The sweating doesn’t usually pose a serious threat to your health, but it can be embarrassing and distressing. It can also have a negative impact on your quality of life and may lead to feelings of depression and anxiety. Commonly affected areas include the armpits, palms of your hands, soles of your feet, face, chest, and groin area.
I WANT TREATMENT – CAN I HAVE IT?
We are happy to provide this treatment and there may be the potential for a referral for free treatment on the NHS, so make sure you discuss the options with your GP as any treatments are given at Inspire Me Aesthetics Clinic will be subject to a charge.
HOW IS TREATMENT ADMINISTERED?
At Inspire Me Aesthetics Clinic, we will assess your needs in an initial consultation and if you decide to proceed will work out a programme to reduce teh sweating in the desired area(s). We have mainly treated armpits at Inspire Me Aesthetics Clinic and in your first appointment, we will smear iodine on your armpit to identify where the sweat glands are. Botulinum toxin (Botox®) is used to reduce sweating by injecting (using a very tiny micro-needle) a very small amount of Botox into the area which will paralyse the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. The treatment is relatively painless and will take about half an hour to complete.
ARE THERE SIDE EFFECTS?
This will depend on the person and can sometimes lead to ‘compensatory sweating’. This is when stopping sweating in one area leads to increased sweating elsewhere- for example, the back or thighs. Although common, most patients will report high satisfaction levels in the overall outcome.
IS IT PAINFUL?
We insist upon applying anesthetic cream to the skin for at least 30 minutes prior to injection so the treatment is virtually pain-free.
HOW LONG SHOULD TREATMENT LAST?
Typically 9-12 months.
HOW LONG WILL THE TREATMENT TAKE?
Injections take 15-30 minutes, but you should allow an additional 30 minutes for the anesthetic cream to take effect beforehand.
Hyperhidrosis prices start from £600 for 100U of Botox
Next to your face, the skin on your hands is the most exposed part of your body. Hard to protect, your hands are frequently exposed to a wide range of abuse on a daily basis. From the sun to the cold, cleaning detergents and washing up, the delicate skin on our hands is certainly put through its paces. Moreover, if this was not enough, your genes and gravity will also influence the way in which your hand’s age.
SIGNS OF AGEING HANDS
Typically, the first signs of ageing hands start’s in the 40’s, and 50’s with the appearance of age spots, also referred to as liver or sunspots. These are flat areas of dark pigmentation that often appear on the face, chest, arms, shoulder, and hands – in other words, those areas most exposed to the sun. They are caused by the production of excess melanin in the skin as a direct result of exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
During the 50’s and 60’s, the skin starts to become thinner, and a loss of volume and fat causes the underlying bones, tendons, and veins to become more prominent. In women, depleting Oestrogen levels resulting from the menopause will cause the skin to be less plump and fleshy, making them far more vulnerable to the ageing process.
WHAT CAN BE DONE?
Dr Mittala recommends that to protect and maintain the quality of the skin in the hands you should be using a hand cream with a high sun protection as part of your daily care regime and do remember that even on the coldest of days your hands are still exposed to the sun’s harmful rays.
Hands that have lost volume and are displaying the underlying fine anatomy of veins, bones, and tendons can still be vastly improved using dermal fillers such as Belotero Soft by restoring volume, rehydrating and plumping out the skin to hide the veiny and bony prominences. The use of injections may sound scary, but the procedure is not only safe, but it is also very well tolerated by patients and will give a natural result.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
To get the best results we recommend at least three treatments at the end of each month for each hand.

The décollatage presents a significant aesthetic concern for many women as a wrinkled decolletage can reveal a woman’s age just as easily as her hands. Think crinkly chests and lines between the cleavage which are deep vertical creases that appear as the skin becomes older and thinner along with dreaded age spots and UV damage.
Women neglect the decollétage and think skincare or sun protection stops at the chin. Once again, we recommend the use of a sunscreen all year round to include your face and décollatage. Once the collagen in the skin breaks down those wrinkles tend to linger along with volume loss due to ageing, pollution, smoking and repeated rapid weight changes resulting in the chest losing its youthful appearance.
Women in their 40’s and 50’s see an accelerated breakdown of collagen and elastin leading to skin thinning, dryness and other changes such as solar elastosis (s a disorder in which the skin appears yellow and thickened as a result of sun damage), increased inflammation along with cell damage (red and brown spots), ruddiness, thin & wrinkled skin often with a bubble wrap appearance.
HOW CAN I IMPROVE MY SKIN’S APPEARANCE?
Dermal fillers, contain Hyaluronic Acid, are an injectable substance made from natural and synthetic material and have been developed to restore skin to its youthful appearance, it is long-lasting but not permanent. Over 30 million people across the world have been successfully treated. At Inspire Me Aesthetics Clinic we use BELOTERO® Dermal fillers, containing Hyaluronic Acid which can be used to smooth away facial lines and wrinkles, create fuller lips, shape facial contours and revitalise the skin, such as the décollatage and hands.
Sometime we will use a combination of dermal fillers and Botox® depending on the deepness of the line We only use small doses of Botox® which are injected into the dermis 1-2cm apart giving a smoothing effect on the decolletage which relaxes the cells in the dermis. This is a safe treatment and results can last 3 – 5 months.
